The Pennington County Democrats ladle up soup and good conversation at The Hive, with Dan Ahlers for Governor and Raeann Mettler for Commissioner of School and Public Lands taking the mic this month. Then the whole candidate crew heads to Main Street Square for a rally. This is the bowl-of-soup kind of evening this campaign runs on. Grab a spoon and come find me.
The South Dakota Mineral Industries Association invited legislators and candidates to spend the day in Lead touring Coeur's Wharf mine and Dakota Gold's operations. Mining jobs are Black Hills jobs, and I want to hear directly from the people doing the work about what they need from Pierre.
That evening the South Dakota Trucking Association hosts its Capitol Club Reception in Deadwood. Truckers keep every business in this state stocked, mine included, and I'm looking forward to talking shop with the people who move South Dakota.
Seventh Circuit CASA marks 40 years of speaking up for kids in our courts with its Fire & Ice gala: dinner, an auction, and a shot at a diamond from Riddle's with every ticket. CASA volunteers do some of the quietest, most important work in this community, and it's a cause worth dressing up for. Tickets at casaofrapidcity.org.
The South Dakota Democratic Party brings the West River family together for its annual Roundup dinner, and this year's headliner is Jane Kleeb, the Nebraska Democratic Party chair and author of Harvest the Vote. Tickets are $100, or $60 for Young Democrats 35 and under, and sales close September 8. Come share a table with us.
